Vijayawada: District collector S Dilli Rao while virtually addressing the returning officers, nodal officers of enforcement agencies from camp office here on Sunday, said that the officials of various enforcement agencies should focus on effective implementation of election seizure management system (ESME) in order to conduct election impartially.

Reviewing the seizures affected so far across the seven Assembly constituencies from March 16 to 24, the collector said that cash of Rs 1.27 crore, 2,503 litres of liquor, 4,100 grams of narcotics substance, 7,139 grams of gold and silver articles all worth Rs 3.60 crore was seized. He said that the staff at check posts, and flying squads should be alert to check smuggling of cash, liquor and others.

There should be coordination between the nodal officers of the police, the special enforcement bureau, the prohibition and excise department, the income tax, the commercial tax, the forest, the banking and the public transport departments.

The information regarding the seizures should be uploaded immediately and the returning officers of constituencies concerned should also be informed.

Joint collector Dr P Sampat Kumar, Municipal commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, DRO V Srinvasa Rao, DROs Bh Bhavani Sankar, K Madhavi, Ravindra Rao, ADCP M Krishnamurthy Naidu, LDM K Priyanka and officials of various departments were present.
