Vijayawada: Palm Sunday was celebrated at with gaiety in Vijayawada on Sunday. Churches and Christian institutions organised rallies to mark the Palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday commemorates the Christian belief in the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, when he was greeted by cheering crowds waving palm branches.

Palm Sunday is also known as Passion Sunday, it marks the start of a Holy Week. Palm Sunday was celebrated on a grand note at St Paul’s Cathedral here as Christian devotees took out a rally with decorated palm branches.

Vijayawada Catholic Diocese Bishop Fr TJ Raja Rao, Monsignor Fr Muvvala Prasad, Fr Vinod, Fr M Koshore and hundreds of devotees took part in the rally and entered the St Paul’s Cathedral.

After reaching the church which was decorated for the occasion, Bishop Fr TJ Raja Rao, Monsignor Fr Muvvala Prasad and other priests offered the holy mass. Bishop Raja Rao delivered the sermon to the devotees. He said that Easter is the main festival for Christians which is also called Resurrection festival.
