Visakhapatnam: As part of the ‘Tiger Triumph-2024’ exercise , the Indian Navy welcomed USS Halsey (DDG-97), an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, of the US Navy which arrived in Visakhapatnam to participate in the sea phase of ‘Tiger Triumph 2024’.

The India-US bilateral tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) is an amphibious exercise between the two forces that included harbour and sea phases on the Eastern Board.

After the completion of the harbour phase of the ‘Tiger Triumph’ that included pre-sail discussions, subject matter expert exchange on professional subjects and deliberations on planning and execution procedures of various tasks, the sea phase of the event will continue till March 31.

Commenced onboard INS Jalashwa, the exercise symbolises the robust strategic partnership between both the countries and aims to share best practices and standard operating procedures in undertaking multinational HADR operations.

While the first phase of the exercise witnessed training visits, sports events and social interactions among the personnel of both the navies, participating ships will undertake maritime, amphibious and HADR operations in the sea phase.

A pre-sail conference was conducted at Visakhapatnam to discuss nuances of the forthcoming sea phase of ‘Tiger Triumph-2024’ exercise. The plans were presented to the Commanders with Commanding Officers of participating units of the US Navy and Indian Navy in attendance.
