52.4 % clear OU degree exams
Only 52.4 per cent students cleared degree final year examinations in Osmania University. While 53,160 students appeared for BA, B.Com and B.Sc final year examinations, only 27,873 could pass the examinations. The results of I, II and III year of BSc, BCom and B.Sc were declared by OU Registrar Prof E Suresh Kumar at the University here on Friday.
Rgistrar says Semester system for UG courses from 2016-17 will be introduced
Hyderabad: Only 52.4 per cent students cleared degree final year examinations in Osmania University. While 53,160 students appeared for BA, B.Com and B.Sc final year examinations, only 27,873 could pass the examinations. The results of I, II and III year of BSc, BCom and B.Sc were declared by OU Registrar Prof E Suresh Kumar at the University here on Friday.
In all 1,90,518 candidates comprising 9,6442 boys and 9,4076 girls appeared for I, II and III years examinations. Going by course wise, 22,262 candidates for BA, 1,09,555 for B.Com and 58,701 for B.Sc appeared. The course-wise break up results of III year showed 62.46 per cent candidates in B.A, 52.84 per cent in B.Com and 48.9 per cent in B.Sc cleared the examinations.
Once again girls outshone boys by scoring 71.61 per cent in B.A, while boys registered 54.81 per cent. Similarly in B.Com stream, girls secured 67.20 per cent while only 40.69 per cent boys could clear. In B.Sc, girls registered 55.80 and boys 38.02 per cent. “Even in degree results, girls outperformed and this is very good sign in the new State of Telangana,” said the Registrar.
Prof. E Suresh Kumar said the University would implement the grading system for the undergraduate courses from the current academic year as part of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The University had already introduced grading system for postgraduate courses.
“Semester system will be implemented for undergraduate courses from the next academic year i.e. 2016-17. The University does not want to rush for implementing the CBCS system,” Suresh said. Candidates can collect their memorandum of marks from their respective colleges after July 1. Students, who want to apply for revaluation, should apply through APOnline by paying Rs 200 per paper from June 13 to June 27. The candidates can also secure the photocopy of the answer sheet by paying Rs 1000 per paper from June 15 to July 14.
