Vijayawada: Rain brought fish for the people in Krishna district on Friday. The unusual phenomenon was witnessed at Gollamudi and Pallagiri villages of Nandigama mandal. Farmers found fish in their inundated fields. The unexpected incident left them baffled but later they competed with one another to catch as many fish as they can. Locals believed it was rain that brought fish.
Rains have been lashing the region for last three days. It may be first time in these parts of India. However, it is not unusual in other parts of world. BBC reported on April 14, 2015, a strong rain swept Thailand, and together with it, thousands of fish poured over mysteriously. However, it was reported later that the incident was actually occurred in China, not in Thailand. Shanghaiist.com reported this incident on March 18, 2015.
The “mysterious” phenomenon took place due to a truck accident that made the catfish spill over the road of Kaili Development Zone (KDZ) of Guizhou province. There are several incidents of raining spiders and frogs reported in different places of the world. In 2011, students and their teacher observed the worms falling in Scotland. Monsoon winds lift the fish eggs from rivers.
