The Centre will be organising the programme jointly by United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UNAPCICT/ESCAP) and SPMVV.
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao will launch the programme in which district In-charge Minister K Atchannaidu will also participate. Explaining the details of programme to the media here on Saturday, the Vice-Chancellor Prof V Durgabhavani said that this WIFI was a prestigious flagship programme developed by the UN.
It was first launched in June 2016 in Korea to examine the state of art of ICTD capacity building in Asia and Pacific in support of the 2030 UN Agenda for sustainable development.
The main objective of WIFI was to create socially and economically empowered women through ICT-enabled entrepreneurship and expected to strengthen the capacity of women entrepreneurs to utilise information and communication technologies in support of their businesses.
The V-C said that ICT and entrepreneurship training programme will extend training to two target groups–women entrepreneurs and government leaders and policy makers. After launching the programme in various countries, SPMVV has been identified for organising this even from February 19-22 with support of UN and Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP).
Prof Bhavani further added that, the WIFI in India is named as WIFI Saviskara –Transcending of Talent with an objective of nurturing the entrepreneurship among women to enhance their participation towards the achievement of sustainable development.
The programme in SPMVV will consist of the launch on February 19, WIFI TOT workshop on ICT for women entrepreneurs from 20-22 February and WIFI ToT workshop on enabling policy environment for women entrepreneurship during February 20-21. The training consists of modules that are applicable to both groups and specialised modules for each which include core modules, modules for women entrepreneurs and module for policy makers, she said.
