125-ft Ambedkar statue to come up in Amaravati

A 125-ft statue of Dr B R Ambedkar would be installed in Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. This was announced by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, while making a statement on the government’s proposed year-long celebrations to mark the 125th birth anniversary of the leader.

Naidu said the statute would come up in a 15-acre land in the new capital and would be designed to give a befitting memorial to the towering personality. The memorial would comprise a park, convention centre, a Buddhist meditation hall and a library. A museum unveiling the life and journey of Ambedkar would be showcased, besides developing it as a tourist attraction for the Buddhists from world over to come and visit the place. This will also be developed as a centre to study the teachings of the leader.
