Ravula Ravindra, Consultant of Foundation courses, Andhra Pradesh Education department said that the government has decided to set up Municipal Junior Colleges in the State soon. He said that as part of this decision, a Municipal Corporation Junior College will be established in Eluru and said government will give legal sanctity to these colleges.

Addressing media at Municipal Commissioner’s Chamber at Municipal Corporation office on Wednesday, the consultant said that the State government has decided to encourage the students and started foundation courses in all Municipal high schools in the State.
The State government has decided to check the corporate school's hype in the state and has taken enough measures. He said the government has decided to train the Municipal School students to get first ten places in national levels in all the national level competitive exams by 2020.
As part of this, it started foundation courses in Municipal schools to the students of Class 6 to Class 10 and will enable students to compete with the corporate schools in seven stages.
About 36,000 students have been selected for the foundation course in the State and the textbooks of Maths, Natural Science, English subjects have been distributed free of cost.
He said that a common schedule will be implemented to teach the students of foundation course all over the state and also common examinations be conducted to them in all the 13 districts.
He said that in the second phase, advanced foundation course will be being all over the State in 16 centres to educate 4,000 students this year and soon this will be extended all over the State. After the successful implementation in Municipal Schools, the foundation courses will be introduced in Zilla Parishad schools also.
The government has decided to prepare the Municipal Corporation school students to compete with the corporate schools. At present, on a trial basis, 140 centres in Nellore district were opened with 7,000 students and 76 schools with 4,572 students in Chittoor district.
He said that Rs.100 crore have been allotted for the Foundation Course already recently and these funds should be utilised by March ending this year. He requested the Headmasters of all municipal schools to submit their proposals for the school requirements like laboratory and other infrastructure provisions.
The foundation course consultant said that the government has decided to introduce the fine arts courses including Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam to girl students in Municipal Corporation schools from next academic year.
Besides this, the yoga, meditation, physical education courses will be introduced to the boy students. The municipal administration will start IIT Olympiad schools in each district soon, he said.
The Government’s main aim is to extend the best education free of cost to the students. Municipal commissioner Yarra Saye Srikanth participated in the media conference.
