Narsapur: The Aqua Mega food park agitation has taken a new turn with the fishermen in Narsapur and Mogaltur mandals starting a counter-agitation in the coastal area. The anti-food park agitation committee has demanded a halt to the construction of the aqua park in Tundurru which they fear would cause pollution of Gunther and other water resources. However, there is a new twist to the demand with the fishermen in Narsapuram and Mogaltur mandals seeking the government not to shift the park to seashore area in the district as they will lose their livelihood due to pollution.

The aqua food park agitators have for the last three years been demanding the government to shift the food park to another place as their water sources will cause pollution. They have been on the warpath and continuing the agitation. Pawan Kalyan and YSRCP president Jaganmohan Reddy also extended solidarity to their agitation. The agitators met Pawan Kalyan last year and Jaganmohan Reddy toured the Tundurru area and demanded the Government to shift the Park to seashore location.
The three villages of Tundurru, K Bethapudi and Jonnalagaruvu were under prohibitory orders as the officials promulgated Section 144 of CrPC. and Section 30 of Police Act. The agitators faced criminal cases and arrests.

Recently, environmentalist and the National Alliance for Peoples’ movement founder, Medha Patkar also visited these villages.It may be recalled that the government and the Narsapur MLA Bandaru Madhava Naidu has assured food park agitators that a pipeline to channel effluents of food park will be diverted to the seashore.

The fishermen mostly live in Chinamainavani Lanka who demanded the government not to shift the factory to the sea shore. They said that thousands of fishermen earn their livelihood by fishing in the Bay of Bengal from Mollaparru to Biyyaputippa. They questioned the government that if the factory at Tundurru is hazardous, then it could also have the same impact on the seashore area.

Tiirapraanta Parirakshana Samiti is led by MPTC Maila Vasantha Rao met in Chinamainavani Lanka, on the sea shore. The leaders said that the Parirakshana Samiti is not against any party or Government or region and caste. They said they are questioning the injustice and loss to the sea coast. They demanded the government and opposition parties to ensure that no pipeline will be constructed to the seashore and no factory will be shifted to the sea shore. Otherwise, they will intensify their agitation.

The leaders said that they will meet the Labour Minister Pithani Satyanarayana, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy and Janasena President Pawan Kalyan and Communist party leaders soon to represent their problems.

The Parirakshana Samiti leaders Maila Vasantha Rao, Odugu Ramachandra Rao, Maila Nagaraju, Odugu Janardan, Maila Arjuna Rao, Odugu SambaMurthy addressed the fishermen. Hundreds of fishermen participated in the meeting. Later the fishermen displaying a banner at the seashore demanded the government to stop the construction of pipeline and shifting of the food factory.
