Vijayawada: District collector B Lakshmi Kantham instructed the officials to study and submit a report on the alleged encroachment and illegal digging of fish tanks in Kolleru contour 5 reserve forest area. Lakshmi Kantham held a review meeting with the officials of forests, revenue, police, fisheries and irrigation at the camp office on Wednesday and discussed the alleged digging of fish tanks in the reserve forest area in Kolleru.

Stating that the district administration will take stringent action against the encroachments, he asked the officials to conduct ground level study in contour-5 area and submit a report in two days. He said the government enacted strict laws to protect the wild life reserves in the state. Joint collector Gandham Chandrudu, fisheries joint director Yakub Basha, divisional forest officer V Saibaba, irrigation executive engineer R Mohana Rao and other officials from police and Pollution Control Board attended the meeting.
