Veteran ctor and producer Madala Ranga Rao, also known popularly as ‘Red Star’, who has been suffering from lung infection has been admitted in the Star Hospital in Hyderabad on Saturday in a highly critical state by his daughter-in-law Padmavathi. Speaking to the media, Ranga Rao’s son Dr Madala Ravi said that his father suffered a severe heart attack in May last year was admitted in Vijaya Hospital in Chennai.

When his condition became extremely critical in Chennai, Ravi said that they had to shift his father to the Star hospital in Hyderabad in an ambulance. Dr Gopichand and his team performed a major heart surgery on him successfully.

From then on, Ranga Rao was under the care of Dr Gopichand, Dr Ramesh and Dr Anuradha, who were nursing him with great care, he added. He said that his father has been staying with him after the surgery.

However, when Ranga Rao suffered a massive heart attack again on Saturday, he was immediately rushed to Star Hospital and put on a ventilator support system. Besides, he was also undergoing dialysis in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Doctors said that he would be under observation for the next 48 hours as the situation was serious. Right now, Ranga Rao’s son Dr Ravi and his wife Padmavathi were attending on him.

It may be recalled that Madala Ranga Rao, a communist sympathiser, made several revolutionary leftist oriented films in the 1980s like ‘Yuvatharam Kadalindi, ‘Erra Mallelu’, ‘Prajashakthi’, ‘Veerabhadrudu’ and ‘Viplavashankham’ under the banner Navatharam Pictures highlighting the social and economic problems like unemployment, corruption, poverty, etc. Earlier, he also played a baddie in several Telugu movies in the 1970s like ‘Pelli Kaani Thandri’ and ‘Bangaru Chellelu.’
