The Artful Syllabus

Daira Art Gallery launched first of its kind art curriculum, 'Artful Thinking' tailored for school children. The concept is introduced by artist, curator Atika Amjad, who has done an online course on Art and Inquiry from the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York.

"The course trains the participants to impart museum- based education. On completion, they are certified to teach students how to appreciate art and look at it critically as well. Once school students acquire these critical learning skills, they can apply it in their academics as well,” adds Atika.

Sri Aurobindo International and Tagore School have signed up for the new concept. Atika says, "We are talking with ‘Teach for India’ to consolidate plans to introduce this in their schools. Our focus is to get this project in as many affordable private schools as possible."

The artists who are going to conduct the classes may include Thota Vaikuntam, (Hyderabad), artists from Telangana Masuram Ravikant, Trigula Murali, Konda Srinivas, Thota Lakshminarayan, Manish Sutar, Rajendra Kapse ( Maharashtra), Govind Biswas,(Bhopal) and Bivas Choudhari (New York).
