In an ironic situation, pedestrians were forced to walk on the road after reconstruction of footpaths near Tank Bund posed restrictions to their proper movement

Hyderabad: In an ironic situation, pedestrians were forced to walk on the road after reconstruction of footpaths near Tank Bund posed restrictions to their proper movement.
After the re-carpeting of city roads, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials took up work to lay footpath in various parts of the city.

However, the irresponsible behaviour on part of the workers, such as leaving pave blocks unattended on the edge of the road, is not only causing an inconvenience to motorists, but is posing dangers to pedestrians. The construction material that includes sand, cement and pave blocks is left on the deconstructed footpath and on the edge of the road. Works have been going on for 15 days now.

A pedestrian Sheaker informed that the construction material, which is left abruptly on both the sides of footpath, is causing inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians. He said that the authorities should ensure that the work does not affect passers-by.

Another pedestrian T Naveen Babu said that the construction of footpath has eaten up walking and parking space at Tank Bund. He said that because of the material left on road the commuters are facing a lot of problem and visitors are not able to park their vehicles on road. He also said that the officials should instruct the workers to complete the work at the earliest.Meanwhile, officials of GHMC were unavailable for comment.
