​Warangal: The girl students of Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science, Warangal (KITS-W) took out a bike rally, promoting the practice of wearing helmets.

The programme was conducted under the aegis of ‘Sahasra’, the women’s cell of the college, in association with Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) here on Tuesday.

The girl students sporting helmets and riding bikes took out the rally on the college campus creating traffic awareness among the college students.

The rally was flagged off by the ACP (Traffic) SM Surendranath and KITS-W Director Y Manohar.

Surendranath advised students not to drive vehicles without helmet and one should give priority to safety than pleasure. Manohar administered a pledge to students stating that they would not drive two-wheeler without helmet.

Nearly 150 girl students have participated in the bike rally. Principal Prof Venkateswara Rao, Dean (student affairs) K Sridhar, ISTE Chairman Prof KV Raghu Babu and its faculty adviser B Rama Devi, executive members of women cell Prof Vijaya, G Manjulatha, Prof M Srilatha, PRO D Prabhakara Chary, student coordinators Vivek Raj, K Sahithi, Lakshmi Prahitha and Akhil were present.
