Vizag's Joint Collector accords top priority to roads, drinking water

Visakhapatnam: Siva Sankar Lotheti assumed office as District Joint Collector at his chambers on Wednesday. He received the charge from District Revenue Officer R Gunnaiah. Later, after taking charge, he was greeted by Joint Collector II Venkateswara Rao, Narsipatnam RDOs, Civil Supplies Department officials among other officials. Speaking on the occasion, Siva Sankar said he worked as Sub-Collector for 11 months in Paderu and in-charge ITDA PO for six months.

Siva Sankar, an IAS officer of 2013 batch, hails from Dharmavaram village, S Kota mandal, Vizianagaram district. He had earlier worked as Sub-Collector in Guntur and Paderu and ITDA PO.

He acknowledged that he had worked in Girijan-dominated Agency areas and was aware of the problems faced by the tribal communities.

First time, he had come to an urban area and that too has taken a prime post of Joint Collector of Visakhapatnam for which he expressed his happiness. The JC thanked the State government for the same. He said he would discharge his duties in the revenue and civil supplies departments with utmost care. He said he would discuss with officials concerned to improve the road connectivity and drinking water supply for the benefit of tribals.
