10 hurt in cracker unit blast: K Kannababu

Kakinada: Ten persons suffered serious burn injuries in an explosion at a crackers manufacturing unit at G Vemavaram village under Tallarevu mandal on Friday.

The condition of two of the injures is said to be serious. According to police, the explosion occurred when 10 employees of Sivaparvati Fireworks were making flower-pots in a shed. The owner of the unit Yerramaneedi Anjaneyulu has licence to make the crackers. The entire shed was destroyed in the blast and the ensuing fire.

The injured were identified as Yarramneedi Satyam, 50, Neela Venkatesh, 18, Neela Ramakrishna, 35, Yerramneedi Brahmam, 30, Y Nagababu, 20, Y Krishnamurthy, 45, Y Govinda Rajulu, 35, Gandi Govind, 18, Y Satryanarayana, 40 and L Venkatesh, 30.

Agricutlure minister K Kannababu, district collector D Muralidhar Reddy and SP Adnan Nayim Asmi visited the injured persons who were undergoing treatment at the government hospital. Kakinada DSP Karanam Kumar said that Sivaparvathi Fireworks has licence up to June 15 2021.
