1,164 polling stations declared as sensitive in Srikakulam
Srikakulam: In all, 40 per cent of polling stations have been identified as sensitive and hyper-sensitive in Srikakulam district. The ten assembly constituencies in the district has 2,908 polling stations of them 1,164 are being identified as sensitive and hyper-sensitive.
In Srikakulam segment, 158 polling stations are being notified as sensitive and hyper-sensitive which is highest in number, next place is occupied by Palakonda with 138 polling stations followed by Itchapuram with 131 sensitive polling stations.
In Tekkali, 122 polling stations are identified as sensitive, in Palasa 90 poling stations, 119 in Pathapatnam, 90 in Amudalavalasa, 112 polling stations in Etcherla segment, 113 polling stations in Narasannapeta, 91 stations in Rajam are identified as sensitive. Police are conducting joint meetings with political parties' representatives in all sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling station areas.
They also created awareness among people over stringent laws regarding elections and consequences. Police conducted mock drills with central forces as a rehearsal."We are maintaining strict vigil on activities of old convicted persons and rowdy-sheeters as a precautionary measure and binding over them if needed," said Superintendent of Police Navadeep Singh Gravel to The Hans India.
