11K centres set up for voter enrolment in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Chief Electoral Officer K Vijayanand said on Sunday that 11,000 Common Service Centres (CSCs) were opened in the State to offer electoral registration service for 45 days from September 1 to October 15.

The CEO unveiled the posters related to the largest voters' verification drive and voters' registration activity at the Sub-Collector's conference hall on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Vijayanand said that the Election Commission of India had set up 10 lakh Common Service Centres in the country and 11,000 centres in the State for verification of voters' names, addresses and registration of voters. He said booth-level officers will be available to the voters to render services.

He said the final list of voters without mistakes will be published in 2020. He said the voters can visit the Common Service Centres for verification of their names, addresses and other details and they can change their names if necessary on producing Aadhaar card, passport, driving licence, bank passbook, farmers' identification card and any other ID card given by either the Election Commission or the Central government agency.

Vijayanand said special arrangements have been made at District Collectorates, Revenue Divisional Offices and tahsildar offices for registration and revision of names. He said Form-8, Form-7 and Form-6 are available at the help centres and voters can avail the services.

CEO Vijayanand along with Krishna District Collector Md Imtiaz and Joint Collector K Madhavi Latha released the posters to create awareness on the voters registration and revision.
