1,200 cases settled in Lok Adalat: District judge PV Jyothirmayi

Ongole: Having a heart that could forgive the other people and their deeds is next to divinity, said the district principal judge and Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority P Venkata Jyothirmayi.

She participated in the National Lok Adalat organised in the district courts complex here on Saturday. It is a better way to settle pending and pre-litigation civil and criminal compoundable cases in the Lok Adalats, said the district judge.

Speaking to the complainants and defendants at the National Lok Adalat, she explained that by participating and agreeing for the amicable settlement following the CRPC, the parties will save valuable time and receive non-appealable decree on the cases.

She stated they have arranged benches for Lok Adalat in all courts in the district and settled 163 civil, 882 criminal and 155 pre-litigation cases in them and nearly Rs 5.50 crore compensation was paid to parties as compensation.

Joint Collector S Shanmohan, first additional judge S Ramesh, DLSA in-harge secretary and principal civil judge B Sobhakumari, family court judge Ch Rajagopala Rao, seventh additional district judge Dr Shaik Md Fajululla, Bar Association president B Bhaskar Rao, DSP K V V N V Prasad and other government lawyers and bar association members participated in the programme.
