130 students donate blood at SRM varsity
Vijayawada: Over 130 students of SRM University, AP-Amaravati donated blood at a blood donation camp organised to mark the University's Founder's Day on the college campus on Saturday.
Professor D Narayana Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, SRM University, AP-Amaravati shared the Founder and Chancellor, MP Dr TR Paarivendhar's vision and generous contributions to society through various social service activities.
He said 21 educational institutions have been established by SRM management under the leadership of Dr Paarivendhar and till date around 1.10 lakh students have passed out from different educational streams.
He said the founder's vision was to provide education to all and provided scholarships to the tune of Rs 35 crore every year to the underprivileged sections of society. The SRM institutions have about 10,000 employees and 70,000 students currently.
D Gunasekaran, Registrar, SRM University, Dr Lakshmi Rajyam, University Medical Officer, Red Cross Guntur District in-charge, Narasimha Rao, faculty and students were present.
The varsity NSS division organised a blood donation camp together with the international Red Cross society. 20 NSS students received certificates for their contributions to the community.
