1,413 Odisha migrants sent home from Chittoor

Chittoor: District Collector Dr N B Gupta said that 1,413 migrant labourers of Odisha State, who were held up in the district during the lockdown period, were sent back to their native places in a special Shramik Train on Wednesday . All precautionary measures were initiated by conducting the needful medical tests for all the migrants at Chittoor Railway station besides providing them food and water bottles to meet their needs during their journey, he added.

Speaking on the occasion at Chittoor Railway station, the Collector said as per the instructions of the government, steps were taken to dispatch the migrants from the district."All the details of migrant workers have been uploaded in Spandana website and generated the e-passes accordingly. Before three days of their departure to Odisha, corona tests have been done. Thermal screening tests have been done at Chittoor railway station for all the 1,413 migrants," he declared.

He said all the prescribed norms were followed in the Shramik Train in respect of using the face masks and social distancing. Meanwhile three corona positive cases, who were recovered from Chittoor Government Hospital were discharged on Wednesday.

Out of them, one case was from Chittoor and the other two from Srikalahasti. According to an official spokesman, 10 corona positive cases have been recorded in Chittoor district during last 24 hours reaching the total tally to 142, of which 77 were discharged and 65 are active cases.
