143 screened for cancer at mega medical camp in Tirupati
Tirupati: The District Medical and Health Department in association with SVIMS organised a mega cancer screening medical camp at Gudikothuru village in Gudupalle mandal of Kuppam constituency on Wednesday.
In the cancer screening programme, 143 people have participated out of which 109 were women. Among them, oral screening was conducted to 139 people, while 40 women have undergone mammogram test. Pap smear test was administered to 60 women and ultrasound to seven.
The screenings were held in SVIMS Pink Bus. On this occasion, students of Sri Padmavati Medical College for Women in Tirupati have participated and conducted health survey in 160 houses. Speaking on the occasion DM&HO Dr B Ramagiddaiah has said that it is important to identify cancer disease in initial stages for better cure.
People should be away from consuming tobacco and maintain oral and personal hygiene. He underlined the importance of vegetarian food which have rich fibre, taking seasonal fruits and regular walking for at least 30 minutes.
DCHS Dr P Saralamma has advised the people with any symptoms of diseases to consult doctors immediately at Kuppam or V Kota hospitals. Dental Surgeon Dr Madhu Babu has said that oral cancer symptoms have been found in some patients.
Additional DM&HO Dr C Aruna Sulochana Devi, Deputy DM&HO Dr Surekha, SVIMS Radiology department Head Dr AY Lakshmi, Dr Ragini, Dr Chaitanya Vahini and others took part.
