1,500 cr earmarked to improve infra facilities: Minister A Suresh

Kadapa: Education Minister A Suresh has said that government sanctioned Rs 1,500 crore for construction of new school buildings and providing infrastructure facilities in existing schools in the State.

The Minister was in Kadapa on Saturday and addressed a meeting on 'Manabadi-Nadu-Nedu' orientation programme organised for Education Department officials here on Saturday.

He said the government had secured 30 lakh photographs of old and dilapidated school buildings in the State.

After restoration of these buildings, again photographs would be taken up and displayed them in the public under Manabadi-Nadu-Nedu programme. He said funds would be spent for infrastructure facilities like toilets, drinking water, paintings, provision of furniture and other facilities in a big way.

Saying that the government was spending funds in a big way for promotion of quality education by deploying trained teachers, he said that there was a need to create awareness among people over the developmental activities taken up in the education sector.

He said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was keen on filling the vacant teacher posts through the District Selection Committee. District Collector Ch Harikiran said that 4.42 lakh students were studying in 4,600 schools in Kadapa district. He said that eye tests were being conducted to all school children under YSR Kanti Velugu programme.

He said that the district administration was initiating steps for providing infrastructure facilities in schools. Intermediate RJD K Chandra Sekhar Reddy, DEO Sailaja and others were present.
