15th Finance Commission to visit AP, Govt to request to waive of central debts

The 15th Finance Commission will be visiting Andhra Pradesh on the 18th, 19th and 20th of this month. The commission will hold a special meeting with the chief minister of the state YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Chief Minister will explain to them about the state financial issues. CM would appeal to the centre to pay off the debts owed by the Center, especially pending 2,72,266 bills worth Rs 39,423 crore, which would have a severe impact on the current fiscal year budget.

Special funds will be sought for development and welfare programs through Navaratna. A sum of Rs 5,950 crore will be sought from the centre for the village and ward secretariat system, 28,382 crores for rural local bodies and 15,820 crores for urban local corporations during the 15th financial year. The govt would seek to increase the central tax share from 42 per cent to 50 per cent. The state government is likely to request central assistance of Rs 1,667 crore for land surveillance.

AP govt would seek the Central Bank of India to waive Rs 11,039 crore for the state in the same manner as it did in the past. Minister Anil and the state government are seeking substantial financial assistance to set up new education and medical colleges in the state.

The committee will calculate the impending financial deficit. The government expects central funding for the integration of Godavari and Krishna. The government is urging the Finance Commission to recommend the Center for its massive help. The AP government is expecting enormous support from the Center in many aspects.
