200 villagers avail Indian Navy medical camp in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: As part of the Navy Week Celebrations, a free medical screening camp was organised at Fishing Harbour in the city on Saturday. The day-long camp saw several senior citizens and residents of the area getting their health check-up done.

The camp was aimed at identifying the early stages of chronic diseases by providing comprehensive health check-ups and to distributing medicines to the needy. Inaugurated by Command Medical Officer, Headquarters Eastern Naval Command (ENC) Surgeon Rear Admiral CS Naidu, the medical camp was held as part of the outreach programme of the INHS Kalyani under the aegis of ENC, covering medical, ophthalmology, gynaecology, general OPD and dental with a team of medical officers and supporting paramedical staff from INHS Kalyani.

The platform received an overwhelming response and 202 people availed the facility provided to them by the Indian Navy. The locals were also educated about measures to be adopted to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases.

This apart, personnel from INHS Kalyani cleaned the Fisheries Department premises after concluding the medical camp. They also cleared the surrounding areas as part of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.
