25 cops to get Knights in Khaki Awards

Visakhapatnam: The fourth edition of Knights in Khaki Awards is all set to be presented by Vizag-Round Table – 77 on Monday to 25 police personnel for their remarkable service rendered throughout the year. At a media briefing held here on Friday, Chairman of Vizag-Round Table -77 Inder Nuthaki said the programme aims at bringing public closer to police by highlighting hard work and commitment of cops.

"The endeavour is a step towards appreciating their outstanding service towards making the city a safe place to live," he said. From home guards to Inspector of Police, the organisers of event stated that various cadres in department have been considered for the award presentation.

Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha is expected to participate as chief guest where the event is scheduled to commence at 5 pm at The Park hotel on May 13. RTI, a non-profit social organisation, has an army of 4,000 members associated with it across the nation. For the past 15 years, over 2,500 schools with 6,200 classrooms have been facilitated as part of its flagship project 'Freedom through education.'

Ever since its inception, Vizag RT – 77 has built 10 schools and taken up 13 community service projects in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. Convener of event Sritej Puvvada also spoke.
