Kadapa: 30 lakh worth red logs seized, 5 nabbed
Kadapa: In a joint operation, Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) and police seized Rs 30 lakh worth 45 red sanders logs and four vehicles and arrested 5 red sanders smugglers at Chennur forest area in the wee hours of Monday.
Four of the accused belong to Kadapa district and the another one Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu State. Addressing the media here on Monday, city DSP U Suryanarayana said that raid was conducted on a credible information and arrested the accused while loading red sanders logs in the lorries. However, the DSP mentioned that another two woodcutters have managed to escape from the scene by hurling stones at the police.
The DSP said Sheik Lal Basha and Sheik Chand Basha were brothers and 50 cases were registered against each for involving in red sanders smuggling in Kadapa district.
The DSP appreciated the police for their initiative in arresting the culprits.
