3.72L MT sand available in East Godavari: Collector Muralidhar Reddy
Kakinada: District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy directed the officials to take steps to open the sand reaches immediately to expedite the collection of sand in the district.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Principal Secretary Gopal Krishna Dwivedi held a videoconference with all district Collectors on sand issues from Amaravati on Wednesday. Collector Muralidhar Reddy informed that 3.72 lakh metric tonnes sand is available in the district.
He said that 98 percent of sand was supplied to the government related Nadu-Nedu works in the district. The door delivery of 35,000 metric tons of sand is pending and it will be delivered soon. The district has set a target of 15 lakh metric tons for daily sand collection, he said.
He directed the officials to work to increase the target to 40 lakh metric tonnes. He said that two sand reach points have been opened this week and four more sand reaches will be launched in the next week.
