4 die as car hits milk tanker in Ongole

Ongole: In a tragic accident occurred in Prakasam district on Sunday morning, four persons from Krishna district lost their lives when the car they were travelling hit a milk tanker from behind. While four died on the spot, two women were shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Ongole.

According to Ongole Rural CI P Subbarao, Maddipadu SI Shaik Khadar Basha, the family of Vissamsetty Panduranga Rao, native of Meduru in Vuyyuru mandal in Krishna district, is on its way after seeking blessings from Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala on Saturday night.

The car, an SUV from Mahindra, in which they were travelling lost control at Gollapalli flyover on NH 16, near Maddipadu village on Sunday and hit a milk tanker. The police identified the deceased as Vissamsetty Panduranga Rao, 42, Segu Veera Venkata Narasimha Rao, 40, Vissamsetty Shyam Satya Sagar, 10, Jonnala Sambireddy, 44, and shifted the injured women Vissamsetty Anuradha, 35 and Vissamsetty Bhanupriya, 16, to RIMS Hospital in Ongole.

The police suspect that the driver Sambireddy is sleepy and lost control of wheel for a fraction of second, before hitting hard the milk tanker from behind. Police registered the case as per the complaint received from Anuradha and started investigation.
