50,000 seasonal flowers used in decorations: TTD Dy Director

Tirumala: As many as 34 donors hailing from different states arranged flowers to TTD for decoration during Brahmotsavams, said Sri Srinivasulu, Deputy Director of TTD Garden Wing.

Addressing media persons at Media centre here on Sunday, he said nearly two lakh cut flowers and 50,000 seasonal flowers were utilised for decorations in Srivari temple and at other major locations in Tirumala.

He said for the first time, Sugar Candy garlands, peanut garlands and bean seeds garlands have been used for decoration of Ranganayakula Mandapam where Snapana Thirumanjanam is being held during Brahmotsavams inside the shrine.

Anjeer, Cashew, Almonds and Cardamom garlands as well as garlands of various scented flowers of various hues are also being used for the decoration of Mandapam where the ceremonial celestial bath of the deities performed on the special occasion of Brahmotsavam, he explained.

A big contingent of 200 expert decorators including from outside were deployed in flower arrangements apart from the regular garden staff in TTD, Srinivasulu said. He added that Atti Varadarajaswamy setting remained as a special attraction in Maha Pradarshana (exhibition) organised by TTD for the pilgrims participating in Brahmotsavams.

For the first time, we are putting a flower and fruit setting of Mandapan at Varaha Swamy temple on the occasion of Chakra Snanam on October 8 which will be a cynosure to devotees, he said while detailing with the special decorations at the Pushkarini temple tank where Chakrasanam marking the end of the nine-day Brahmotsavam will be held on Tuesday.
