7 held, 41 red sanders logs seized in Kurnool
Kurnool: The Taluka police arrested seven members in connection with red sanders smuggling and seized 41 red sanders logs worth Rs. 15 lakhs, one Bolero car and 10 mobile phones from them. The accused have been brought before media at Taluka police station here on Tuesday.
The officer On Special Duty (OSD) Anjaneyulu said that base on the information, the Taluka police raided the spot at Safa Engineering College near B Tandrapadu village and seized 41 red sanders logs and arrested seven persons.
A car and 10 mobile phones were also seized. The accused were arrested while they were transporting red sander logs to Hyderabad from Giddaluru via Kurnool. The OSD said that among the arrested persons, M Mallikarjuna Babu, K Eswaraiah, B Eswara Reddy, B Balaji and P Maraiah belong to Chittoor district, G Balaiah belongs to Kurnool district and M Gnanaiah belongs to Tamil Nadu.
The accused Mallikarjuna Babu was having nexus with red sander smuggler. All the accused will be produced before court, said the OSD. Kurnool Taluka CI G Obulesu, Sub Inspector Khaza Vali and others were present at the press meet.
