7 special trains cancelled along Vijayawada Railway station over coronavirus
In the wake of Coronavirus cases increasing in two Telugu states, the isolation wards have been set up in railway hospitals as well. According to Vijayawada Railway Station Director Suresh who spoke to media on Wednesday, Vijayawada is one of the busiest railway stations in India with two hundred trains passing by the station every day and around one lakh 30 million people travel.
"Due to its large population, we have taken steps to prevent the spread of the virus and also carrying out passenger awareness programs, " station director said. He also asserted that they have been pasting posters at important places as an advertisement to bring awareness among travellers. The railway staff also said they were wearing sanitizers, masks and gloves.
Meanwhile, the railway department has cancelled 7 special trains running through Vijayawada and made clear that no corona positive case has been registered under this station. Railways Police DSP Bose said the passengers were aware of the coronavirus and following the steps by using masks and sanitizers. "Similarly, steps are being taken to implement one-meter distance at ticket counters and the passengers were advised to cancel the unnecessary journeys unless there is an emergency, " DSP asserted.
