7th economic survey kicks off in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: A committee has been formed with the District Collector J Nivas as chairman and 14 other district level officers as members for conducting seventh economic survey.

Launching the economic survey by releasing a poster here on Tuesday, Collector J Nivas said the survey would be held for 90 days across the district.

He said the survey is aimed to estimate per capita income, to know growth and improvement of various areas like industry, agriculture and added the survey is being conducted for every five or six years.

Based on the inputs submitted through the survey from all the districts across the nation, the Centre will allot funds for various departments and for generation of employment and proper use of human and natural resources.

The Survey is being conducted this time by adopting 'digital India' mobile phone app. An agency 'common service center' will conduct the survey across the nation. In total, 1,184 enumerators and 334 supervisors have been appointed for the survey purpose in rural areas.

For urban areas, 218 enumerators and 81 supervisors have been appointed. "The present survey will reflect factual economic conditions and based on it, future plans will be prepared," said Joint Director for Statistics and Planning Department M Mohan Rao.
