93.5% of 12.54 lakh candidates appear for exams on Day-1
Nellore: Commissioner and director of municipal administration G S R K R Vijaya Kumar said that around 93.5 per cent of total 12.54 lakh candidates applied appeared for the first day exam of village secretariat posts on Sunday across the state. He paid surprise visit to some examination centres here.
Stating that examination was peaceful on the first day, he made it clear that selections would be mainly be done on the basis of written exam. Vijaya Kumar said they had been striving hard to conduct the exams giving no scope for malpractices and other irregularities with the support of police and other departments.
Nellore municipal commissioner P V V S Murthy said exams were conducted in 185 centres in the morning and 40 centres in the afternoon on Sunday. District collector M V Seshagiri Babu, SP Aishwarya Rastogi and other senior officials also inspected the centres during the exams.
Vijaya Kumar visited Priyadarshini Engineering College located in Kanuparthipadu and other centres in the city along with civic officials. SP Rastogi said that they had taken measures for traffic clearance, security at the examination centres.
He said 68,668 candidates out of 73,797 who applied appeared for the examination in the morning session, 18,882 out of 20,337 candidates appeared for the afternoon session across the district.
The SP said examination centres had been arranged in Nellore, Kavali, Gudur, Atmakur and Buchi on Sunday. From Sep 3 up to 8 the exams will be conducted in only Nellore. As many as 1,223 police personnel were deployed for the exams on Sunday, Rastogi said.
