Aashadamasa Bonalu offered to Goddess Kanaka Durga
Vijayawada: Aashadamasa Bonalu were offered to Goddess Kanaka Durga by Bhagyanagar Sri Mahankali Jatara Bonala Utsavala Ummadi Committee on a grand note here on Sunday. Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas started the celebrations.
As part of the celebrations, a procession from Brahmana Street to Kanaka Durga Temple atop Indrakeeladri was taken out. Special rituals were held on the banks of River Krishna before offering the Bonalu to the Goddess.
The committee president, P Srinivas Yadav, vice-president J Chandramohan Goud, chairman G Anjaiah, representatives of a few temples at Old City Hyderabad and others offered (Gold) Bangaru Bonalu along with Pattu Vastarmulu (garments) to the Goddess Durga for the prosperity of people of both the Telugu states and for abundant rainfall, agriculture and live stock.
The Bhagyanagar Sri Mahankali Jatara Bonala Utsavala Ummadi Committee members thanked the state government for welcoming and making arrangements for the Bonalu programme. They further thanked the endowment department, municipal department, R and B, Home affairs department, the temple authorities and EO V Koteswaramma for making the event a grand success.
