ACB addresses media over Atchannaidu's arrest, says he is proved of guilty in ESI scam
The ACB officials said that it was confirmed that the TDP MLA Atchannaidu had a role in the ESI scam as found by vigilance and enforcement investigation. They said that the former minister who was arrested in the morning will be produced before the Magistrate Judge in Vijayawada on Friday evening. The ACB Director Ravi Kumar who held a media briefing following the arrest of Atchannaidu revealed the details.
He said that they have investigated the case based on the vigilance department report over ESI scam. He alleged that the former minister of labour, Atchannaidu was involved in large-scale corruption creating fake bills in procuring medical equipment, which involves a total of Rs 150 crore scam. "It was disclosed that the tenders were not called and the contract for procuring the equipment was done in the nomination process in contrary to the rule," ACB asserted.
The ACB said that they have arrested Atchannaidu was found guilty in vigilance and enforcement probe. Six persons have been arrested in connection with the case so far, including Ramesh Kumar and Vijay Kumar.
