ACB traps Gudur MRO's aide while accepting bribe, seizes 4 lakhs
Kurnool : The officials of Anti Corruption Bureau trapped one Mahaboob Peera alias Mahaboob Basha while accepting bribe amount Rs. 4 lakhs at Panyam bus stand on Thursday late night.
The ACB, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) M Nagabhushnam disclosing facts about the trap to The Hans India has said that one Suresh a resident of Gudur in C Belagal mandal has approached Gudur Tahsildar, Shaik Haseena Bee seeking official favour in a land related issue.
Actually the land was pending in court since some time and after clearance it has referred to Gudur Tahsildar for issuing pattadar pass books. Taking the advantage, she has demanded Rs. 8 lakhs to do the favour else it would be kept pending. After bargaining the amount was settled to Rs. 4 lakhs, said the DSP.
The complainantz Suresh has approached ACB office and lodged a complaint stating the demand of the Tahsildar on Thursday. Basing the contents we filed a case and laid a trap to apprehend the Tahsildar red handed while accepting the amount at her office in Gudur.
But, the intelligent Tahsildar, Shaik Haseena Bee directed Suresh to handover the amount to one Mahaboob Peera, who is acting on behalf of her, at Panyam bus stand.
She has indicated the appearance of the amount acceptor waiting at bus stand. At around mid night we went to Panyam and caught the person, Mahaboob Basha while accepting the bribe amount, Rs. 4 lakhs, M Nagabhushnam said.
We have seized the amount and took the accused to custody. A case has been filed and he would be produced in ACB Court for further action. He further said we tried to reach the tainted Tahsildar taking the assistance of Nandyal RDO, but her mobile was gone off and the whereabouts were also not traced.
As said by Mahaboob Basha, the corrupt Tahsildar was Unmarried and is known to be staying at a working women's hostel in Kurnool.
However, we have filed a case on her also and are searching to apprehend. After she is caught she would also produced in the ACB Court, added DSP, M Nagabhushnam.
