All Krishna reservoirs receive inflows in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: All the reservoirs on Krishna river are receiving nearly two lakh cusecs of inflows from the upstream areas where already the reservoirs are full with gross storage levels. All the gates of reservoirs were lifted discharging inflows to downstream areas.

The low-lying areas in the entire Krishna river course are facing flood threat due to rains in the state along with floodwater from the upstream areas.

According to officials, around 1.60 lakh cusecs water is being released from Prakasam barrage into sea on Saturday evening. Nearly 1.75 lakh cusecs is being discharged from Dr KL Rao Pulichintala project.

Besides, Nagarjunasagar reservoir is receiving 1.50 lakh cusecs while the same is being discharged. The reservoir's full water storage capacity is 312 tmcft and already 311 tmcft water is available at present.

Srisailam reservoir is receiving around 2 lakh cusecs while the same is being released to Nagarjunasagar. The full storage capacity of reservoir is 215 tmcft while 214 tmcft is available at present. The other upstream reservoirs like Jurala, Narayanapur and Almatti are also receiving nearly one lakh cusecs from the upstream areas.

Several areas in the Krishna river course are witnessing moderate to heavy rainfall across the state. As per the present situation, the floods may continue in Krishna river for some more days.
