All set for MLC elections today
Eluru: The West Godavari district police have made elaborate security arrangements for peaceful conduct of polling for election of Godavari Districts Graduates Constituency MLC on Friday.
On the eve of the election, District Superintendent of Police M Raviprakash convened a meeting with police officials at CRR College here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, the SP said the officials that 139 polling stations have been arranged at 69 places in the district. A total of 1,19,867 graduates will exercise their franchise in the district. T
he district has been divided into 17 routes and arrangements have been made for presence of police officials in every polling station. As many as 16 mobile parties have been deployed and a special striking force is appointed in each sub-division. Paramilitary police would also be deployed and same rules of general elections apply during the MLC election, the SP said.
He further asked the officials not to permit anyone other than voters within 100 metres radius of the polling station. Electronic gadgets and other things would not be allowed into the polling booth. The officials have been asked to be alert. Any negligence will be dealt with stern action, the SP warned.
