Amaravati: Cabinet nod for CBI probe into irregularities during TDP rule

Amaravati: The AP Cabinet on Thursday accepted the sub-committee report on the alleged irregularities committed during the TDP regime, including "undue favours" to the Heritage Foods and irregularities in AP Fibrenet project, Chandranna Sankranti Kanuka and Ramzan Tofa, etc, and decided to seek CBI probe.

According to the Cabinet sub-committee, the total value of the irregularities was to the tune of Rs 700 crore. In regard to the supply of products like milk, buttermilk and ghee by Heritage, the sub-committee said products worth about Rs 40 crore were supplied by the company to various temples in violation of the due process of tendering.

The Cabinet also decided to hold the monsoon session of the Assembly from June 16. However, the duration of the session has not been specified. The Business Advisory Committee will meet on the same day to decide the agenda and the number of days of the session. The session may be for only five or six working days, sources said. The monsoon session assumes significance as it has to pass the regular budget. It was planned to hold the budget session in March, but it got postponed due to the lockdown.
