Amaravati: TDP national president and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday blamed the YSRCP government's complacency and negligence for the ongoing, non-stop attacks and vandalism on the Hindu temples and idols across the State.

Naidu condemned the latest attack on the Subrahmanyeswara Swamy idol in Rajahmundry and demanded the YSRCP to give an explanation to the people. It was clear that there was no safety and security to even the Gods under the Jagan misrule.

In a statement here, the TDP chief recalled how the three lions had vanished from the holy chariot at the Bezawada Kanaka Durga Temple. The accused were responsible for the torching of Antarvedi Temple chariot were not yet caught.

The government and the police were not showing the required attention to nab the gangs involved in these attacks.

Naidu deplored that the YSRCP regime was dealing a series of death blows to the Hindu sentiment and traditions. Like nowhere else in the country, the attacks were continuing on the temples. Attacks would have stopped if the government had taken timely action on guilty persons in the initial cases.

Meanwhile, condemning the Tadipatri incident, Naidu said that YSRCP MLA Kethireddy Pedda Reddy and his henchmen armed with a machete, sword and knives trespassed and attacked the house of TDP leader and former MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy on December 24, 2020. The attack was carried in broad daylight when Prabhakar was out of station. The YSRCP MLA himself led the attack and injured the assistant at Prabhakar's house.

The TDP chief said that AP was reeling under a spate of murders, rapes, life threats and violent attacks under the YSRCP regime. Security should be provided to Prabhakar and his family. A section of the police were conniving with the ruling party leaders. As a result, people across the State were living under constant threat to their lives, livelihoods and property. The ruling party MLAs themselves were leading these violent attacks.

Naidu deplored that instead of preventing violence, the police in uniform actively supported and bolstered the attack on Prabhakar's house. Despite the availability of CCTV footage as evidence, the police did not book the attackers but filed cases against the victims. Such incidents were nothing but a blatant attempt by the government to victimise opposition leaders.

Naidu said that YSRCP MLA Pedda Reddy had gone on record and made instigating remarks on an electronic media channel. The fact that the ruling party MLA has given open warning to the opposition leader clearly indicates the reign of terror. It showed how a section of police were actively abetting attacks and violence being carried out by the ruling party leaders.

The TDP chief complained that the Chief Minister himself was encouraging his party leaders and instigating them to attack and perpetuate violence. Such violent tactics shall not be allowed to continue. The people of Andhra Pradesh in general and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) shall not be cowed down by such violent tactics. Democracy and rule of law are fast eroding in the State.
