Amaravati: Chandrababu Naidu decries attacks on party cadres

Amaravati: TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu condemned attacks on his party cadres in Ponnur and Mantralayam Assembly constituencies in the state by the ruling party supporters.

In a statement on Monday, the TDP chief said that party local leader M Gopi and others were injured in the attack led by the YSRCP at Pachhala Tadiparru village in Ponnur. "The YSRCP party local leaders attacked even women. They did not spare Gopi's mother and wife," he said.

In another incident, the YSRCP leaders attacked TDP cadres, including Animesh, Mallaiah, Nilakantam, Nagaraju and others at Tippaladoddi village in Kowthalam mandal in Matralayam in Kurnool district, he said while adding that BCs and Dalits were the targets of brutal attack by the ruling party leaders.

He demanded the director general of police to take immediate action on the accused in these two incidents.

Former minister K S Jawahar alleged that the state government was responsible for the deaths occurred in Visakhapatnam district, where five persons died after consuming industrial spirit in lieu of liquor. He said that as the government had increased prices of cheap liquor in the name prohibition, the poor were forced to consume dangerous alternatives.
