Amaravati: CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy says More village clinics, doctors recruitment soon

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister focused on the medical and health care infrastructure in the state as part of 'Mana Paalana-Mee Suchana' (Our Governance-Your Suggestions) brain-storming session on Friday.

On Arogyasri Services, the Chief Minister said, "Anyone having income below Rs 5 lakh could avail Arogyasri services and 1.42 crore people had been brought under the purview of the scheme." He said services under Aarogyasri could also be availed at super specialty hospitals in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. "We have also included cancer and speech therapy in the list of Arogyasri services," he said.

He said grades had been given to network hospitals and all the B-grade network hospitals should improve their services within six months. "The pensions to the patients, who are suffering from nine chronic diseases, have been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000. The number of types of medicines, which match the World Health Organisation (WHO) standards and sold at government hospitals, has been increased from 230 to 500.

"As of now, we have conducted eye tests on 70 lakh students in the state and distributed spectacles to 1.29 lakh students. Also, eye tests will be conducted for the elderly people across the state in two phases under the 'YSR Kanti Velugu' scheme," he said. "At the village level, YSR Village Clinics will be set up across the state at one clinic for every 2,000 people. About 3,000 clinics will be ready for operation by March 2021 and also works are under progress to improve facilities at 1,138 existing PHCs. This apart, 52 regional hospitals will also be set up. A total of Rs 14,000 crore will be spent under the 'Nadu Nedu' programme. Also, 1,060 brand-new 104 and 108 ambulances will be flagged off on July 1," Jagan added. He said that the notification for the recruitment of 9,712 doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff would be issued in a week.
