Amaravati: Government appoints Viijay Chandar as Film Corporation Chairman

Amaravati: AP Government has appointed Telidevara Vijay Chander, popularly known as Vijay Chander, as Chairman of the State Film Television and Theatre Development Corporation (APSFVTDC), on Monday.

He essayed Jesus of Nazareth in the 1978 film Karunamayudu which won the Nandi Award in the Best Feature Film Category.

The veteran actor had donned many iconic roles including that of his maternal grandfather Tangaturi Prakasam Panthulu besides Vemana, Shiridi Sai Baba, Sant Kabir among others.

After a stint in theatre, he took to films with the revolutionary film Sudigundalu (1967) which won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu and has caught the imagination of the intelligentsia. His 50-episode serial Dayasagar was telecast on DD National and was dubbed into Telugu, Tamil, and other languages.
