Amaravati: Assembly Budget session to commence at 10 am on June 16, announced P Balakrishnamacharyulu, Secretary, State Legislature. Within hours after Cabinet approved the proposal, the Legislature Secretariat issued notification through GO MS No 52 on Thursday.

It was discussed in the Cabinet that the session should be kept as short as possible, in view of the fear of the widespread Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, the Budget session, which was supposed to be completed by March 21, did not take place owing to the coronavirus.

The government promulgated an ordinance for spending money, as it could not present the Budget in Assembly. Now, the session will begin on Tuesday with the Governor's address to Assembly and Council.

After the Governor's address, finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy will present the budget on June 17, along with the Socio Economic Survey report. There will be discussion on the Budget proposals on June 17 and 18. Then the Assembly will sit on June 19, as the MLAs have to participate in the Rajya Sabha biennial elections. After that, the Assembly will continue for two or three working days for the debates on the budget demands, according to sources in the Secretariat.
