Amaravati: Restore old power tariff demanded TDP

Amaravati: The TDP demanded that the State government should implement the old electricity tariff and should not put burden on common people in the State while passing a resolution on tariff hike on the first day of the two-day virtual Mahanadu of the party on Wednesday.

MP Kesineni Nani introduced the resolution stating that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy cheated the consumers by introducing a new tariff system imposing additional burden on power consumers.

MP Galla Jayadev introduced a resolution on Covid-19 and the plight of migrant workers. He flayed the YSRCP leaders for turning into coronavirus carriers in the State by violating the lockdown rules and organising mass gatherings.

He pointed out that the TDP was conducting the Mahanadu virtually to prevent the spread of virus.

Former Minister KS Jawahar criticised the government for failing to effectively implement preventive measures, which led to spread of coronavirus in the State. He alleged that the State government misused the Centre funds intended to prevent the spread of virus. The TDP altogether passed 9 resolutions against the State governments in AP and Telangana.

Meanwhile, TDP chief Naidu announced an assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the kin of the deceased in LG Polymers gas leak tragedy in Visakhapatnam.
