Amaravati: The state government resumed 253.61 acre out of 483.27 acre land allotted to TDP Guntur MP Galla Jaydev family-owned Amara Raja Infratech (P) Ltd at Nunegundlapally village of Bangarupalem mandal and Kothapally village of Yadamarri mandal in Chittoor district on Tuesday, on the grounds that the company had failed to generate the promised employment and investment since 2010. The land was given to the company at just Rs 1.80 lakh per acre by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).

R Karikal Valaven, special chief secretary, industries department, issued GO MS No 33 on Tuesday, ordering the vice-chairman and managing director of APIIC to take necessary action accordingly.

The company was supposed to develop Digital World City in the land which was allotted by the YS Rajasekhar Reddy government in 2008 and handed over in 2010.

Government maintained that keeping the land idle is not only violation of the agreement, but is also against public interest. The government noticed that the company sought the sale deed from the APIIC before implementation of the project on the premise that the same was needed for setting up of Special Economic Zone (SEZ), but no such SEZ has been developed in the allotted land till date.

It was also mentioned that the company has utilised only 229.66 acre out of the total allotted 483.27 acre and even after 10 years of agreement of sale, 253.61 acre land is lying unutilised.

Moreover, the company has not fulfilled its promise to invest Rs 2,100 crore with a potential employment generation for 20,000 people.

The actual employment achieved so far is only 4,310, the government explained while taking back the unutilised land.

It is estimated that the unutilised land is worth more than Rs 60 crore.
