Amaravati: TDP MLCs threaten to move privilege motion against CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy
Amaravati: TDP MLCs said here on Thursday that they would move a privilege motion against Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for proposing to abolish the Legislative Council and belittling the Council Chairman. The MLCs said that they would visit Delhi to apprise the Central government of the undemocratic action of the Chief Minister.
Speaking to media persons at the party office, the MLCs including P Ashok Babu, A S Ramakrishna and B T Nayudu said the dropout rate in schools went up after introduction of English as medium of instruction. Ashok Babu said the Chief Minister met the Prime Minister to discuss the abolition of Legislative Council and three capital proposal. But he failed to make public the memorandum he had submitted to the Prime Minister. Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to abolish the Council as he developed grudge against the TDP MLCs. The TDP MLCs would visit Delhi and meet the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, the President and the Vice-President to explain to them the attitude of the Chief Minister. He said Jagan was finding fault with TDP MLCs for opposing three capital proposal. The Chief Ministers should not destroy the institutions, he felt.
Ramakrishna said that there was no truth in the statement that parents committee had supported the introduction of English medium in government schools. The students should have a choice to select the medium of instruction and it should not be made compulsory. He questioned the stand of Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad who raised a hue and cry when the TDP government introduced English medium in 3,500 schools.
B T Naidu said that they would move a privilege motion against Jagan Mohan Reddy in the coming budget sessions for belittling Legislative Council Chairman. He found fault with the Chief Minister for describing the MLCs by saying they came through backdoor.
