Amaravati: TDP objects to 'political branding' of police 'SHE teams' vehicles
Amaravati: TDP State president K Atchannaidu on Tuesday urged the Director General of Police to take stringent action against the erring officials responsible for applying YSRCP colours to the 'police SHE teams' vehicles in the Guntur district.
In a letter written to the DGP here, Atchannaidu asked how the Guntur Urban SP could launch with his own hands those politically branded 'SHE teams' vehicles on December 21. While using the flag colours of a political party was wrong by itself, a senior police officer in a responsible position got openly involved in their launch which was even more objectionable.
The TDP leader recalled that it was the previous TDP regime that had procured over 800 vehicles for strengthening the police SHE teams. That was done to upgrade the infrastructure needed to take women safety measures to the next level.
Now, the YSRCP government is giving its party colours to those vehicles which reflected its only focus on publicity but not the true spirit of public service.
Atchannaidu said that already, the Jagan Reddy regime has wasted over Rs 3,500 crore public money on change of colours on the government buildings. The courts had also passed strictures against the unconstitutional activities of using a political party flag colours on public property and offices. Stating that the Police department should be free of such illegalities, Atchannaidu demanded the DGP to order a detailed probe and initiate action against those responsible for the political branding of the police vehicles.
