Amaravati: YSRCP senior leader and former chairman of AP Technology Services Koyya Prasad Reddy was on Wednesday suspended from the party on the charges of land grabbing. He is the first leader to be acted upon for misuse of power by the ruling party. Charges abound against some more leaders in the party.

The disciplinary committee of the YSRCP, which had gone into a large number of complaints against Prasad Reddy, announced his suspension after due inquiry. The opposition has been accusing the YSRCP leadership of misuse of power, particularly in and around Visakhapatnam.

An official statement to this effect was released by the party stating that Prasad Reddy, who hailed from Visakhapatnam, was suspended from the party with immediate effect.

Apparently, Prasad Reddy had misused the name of YSRCP general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy and also that of Visakhapatnam collector in settling some land deals in the port city.

The party central office gave a strict warning to all the party leaders against indulging in land dealings and grabbing by misusing the names of the party, parliament members and senior leaders.

"Stringent action would be taken against such leaders," the statement said.

It is said that the disciplinary committee is also looking into other complaints levelled against some more leaders which range from land grab and corruption in listing beneficiaries of various programmes.
